Well my wife went to take a nap and I'm still pacing waiting for her to tell me it's time to go. I've always been a planner and a list maker, so this not knowing is just driving me mad! I got the majority of work done for my job, so I thought I'd take a break and mix up some fixins to take my mind off things.
These simmering potpourri mixes are one of my favorite creations from last year. I couldn't keep them in stock during the craft fair season as they would sell out constantly. They are so simple and primitive; filled with lots of star anise, cloves, apple dices, orange peels, allspice, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks and apple slices. They look neat all bagged up and they smell wonderful!
Here is the saying that we put on every bag: Gramma used to always have a pot of boiling water on the stove. She would throw in apple peels from that days pie, cloves, bay leaves allspice and anything she fancied from the scrap bin. Her kitchen would always smell wonderful!
Directions: Place 1 cup of simmering blends spices into 3 or more cups of gently boiling water on your stove top or in your simmering crock. Keep on low heat, allowing aroma to permeate the room. May be reused several times. Never leave unattended or allow to boil dry. Not for consumption.
We also have an orange spice scented mix available.
