A Game and Giveaway { First Winner Chosen }

While searching eBay I found a photo of this vintage feedsack and thought it looked familiar. Does anyone recognize it?

The first person to correctly comment on the designer and name of the fabric line that was inspired by this feedsack will win a Moda Bella Solids color card and a custom FQ bundle from my stash.

I will also draw a random winner from everyone who comments for a charm and scrap pack from my stash.

DRAWING WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, JUNE 13, 2010.

Good luck!

WINNER UPDATE!!

Megan of Lucy and Norman correctly guessed Summer in the City Birds from the Urban Chiks line! Congratulations Megan. Please email me your address and I will get your loot ready to go!

Here is a photo showing the Brids print with the vine background that matches the feedsack print exactly! Neat, huh? Another feedsack comparison found and shown right here on I'm Just a Guy Who Quilts!

Everyone who comments from now till Sunday still has a chance to win a charm and scrap pack from my stash!

Thanks for playing!

Love it, regardless!

I knew it was the Summer In The City birds!! I already have a color card, though, so I thought I'd let someone else win. Wouldn't say no to a charm pack, though!!

Well I didn't have the right answer anyway, but I can always use a charm pack! I hate cutting & I'm beginning to think I'm the only one in the worls who hasn't won a GO cutter!

Bummer, I recognized it right away, too late to the game as usual!

I am always amazed at people who can name fabric names and designers at the drop of a hat - one day, I'd like to be able to do that!!!

KerryQ said...

So, how do we feel about designers being heavily "inspired" by vintage fabric? This jury is out.

Sequana said...

Well, man......Megan was just too darned fast.

I'd still like the other prizes tho. *S*

Is it weird that I kind of like the original better? I need to start researching vintage feedsacks so I can spend even MORE money on quilting fabric...ha ha.

I don't have a hope of knowing the fabric (and I won't cheat and write someone else's answer down) but I'd love to be in the running for something from your stash.
Thanks for sharing.

That is one sharp eye you have there! I remember in school they used to tell us that fashion repeated itself every 25 years, so maybe fabric is the same!

I love that fabric. Congrats to Megan for getting it right. Thanks for the great giveaway.

So...what you're really saying is find a vintage print, slap a few birds on it, and you have a hit? LOL :) This is a fun game you're playing!

Marci Girl said...

I have to agree with Michelle...I think I just need to find some vintage stuff out of copyright and just rip it off! I love how you are finding the vintage stuff and then showing the new "knocked off version" that is cool...I would just prefer for the designers to be a little more "original!"

What's not to like about birdies?? Keeping fingers crossed! Great blog, BTW!!!

Erica said...

Love to see where designers get their "inspiration"... and hope to win "second prize"!

Valerie said...

I was wondering along the same lines as KerryQ and a few others -- to me, the modern "interpretation" looks like an out-n-out copy of the original with birds added for good measure.
