There was one event I was looking forward to participating in the most and it was called, Sample Spree! I'd heard the many stories that friends told about it and all the blood sweat and tears shed during it. I knew it would be an absolute free for all mess of rabid fabric junkies looking for their next fix. They were right.
The crowds were huge, the lines were long, people were pushing by to grab this or that. By the time it was all over most of the tables were bare and you could see the look of exhaustion on every one's faces, myself included. It was a shopping marathon of excitement.
I spent the few weeks before leaving coming up with a list of everything I wanted to grab and made sure I had a big enough suitcase to bring it all home in. There were several upcoming lines from Moda I was looking forward to. I was sure there'd be many other tables with things I couldn't pass up. I saved up any extra cash I could find and gave myself permission to splurge.

I've never been shy about telling you guys that I'm addicted to fabric. Here's some proof that I should probably seek professional help. They can commit me later ... lets look a little closer at everything that was carefully stuffed in that poor carry on suitcase.
One bundle of Far Far Away 2 by Heather Ross from the Seven Islands table.

A collection called Summertime by Quilt Soup from Henry Glass. Love the orange, aqua and grey combinations.

Some unidentified dots in different colors. I can't remember who they came from.

Fat quarter and fat eighth bundles of Kate Spain's Central Park from Moda. (I'll be giving away the fat eighth bundle to a lucky reader soon!)

Some popular Cat in the Hat fabrics from Robert Kaufman.

Another new line from Moda and Basic Grey called Max and Whiskers. This fat eighth bundle includes some awesome new colors of Moda Grunge fabric.

This next fabric was on the top of my list and was the first one to sell out at the Moda table. Sherbet Pips by Aneela Hoey is so different from anything Moda has ever released. I'm sure it will be extremely popular in stores.

MoMo also has a new line coming out called Just Wing It. This line has several neat prints I'm sure will be added as staples to my stash. The stripes alone would look great with many other fabrics.

Finally, the Lecien booth had two lines with some great color combinations. These prints are not what I would usually buy, but they caught my eye. Sweet Broderie by Rosalie Quinlan is made up of many small scale floral prints.

I also grabbed some Flower Sugar 2 which is very similar to Sweet Broderie with all the florals and dots.

So there you have it. I left Sample Spree feeling very tired with sore arms from all the bags I was carrying. I even ran into a few friends for the very first time.
Though my wallet was empty before market floor was officially open the following day, I would do it all over again in a minute.
I just booked my hotel for Spring Market in Salt Lake City!
Yee haw!

Oh wonderful! I have never even bought one whole FQ bundle let alone this many! Thanks for sharing. I especially love the Lecien Fabrics and of course Aneela's Pip's. :)

Congrats on the amazing haul! All very pretty!
Now just one question: how do you get to go to market? I thought one had to have a store or something like that to attend. I'd love to go, too, and would save my pennies if I could! :)
Wow! Great haul! Very jealous of all that fabric-y goodness! Thanks for sharing pics with us.
Wow, can I come to your house and sew?
I am glad to see some "change" in Moda's lines.
yum!! I hope to be there next year!
You're coming to Spring Market in SLC?! Hurray! I'll see you there darling!
I bet your arms were tired! Great haul!
Wow, you made out! Feel free to mail me those pips!! :)
You sure did fill that suitcase. I think I would go nuts at sample spree too. My favorite is the max and whiskers, looks like a fun fabric.

Looks like you were very successful! Lot's of yummies!
oh wow! your fabric addiction makes mine look tame, those are all so gorgeous, you're going to be one busy guy!
The only professional help you will need is a long arm quilter to finish those babies once you get them all put together!!! You are not a hoarder....you use your stash....bug difference.
"You'be been absolved, go your way piece-full-ly"...giggles

I surely wish I had one of those laser light thingies to have followed you around *L* How many other shoppers did you barrel over to get all this stuff??!!
I was just telling someone yesterday about the concept of selling fat eights and wondering how long before fat sixteenths are in our sight?
Thx for all the eye candy.
You are going to have such fun! I LOVE Seuss. I can not wait to see it in person...
Did you "carry" on that suitcase? I would be terrified to check it and loose it.
We came home with a similar stashes. You must have good taste! : ) I wish I had seen that Summertime stack. I love those dots.
What a stash! Gorgeous!
Referring to your suitcase as "poor little" makes me laugh...I bet it is the highlight of its life...holding all the yummy fabric...sigh....I wouldn't mind being your suitcase (but then again, if I were, I would be a theiving suitcase)
Love them all such beautiful, beautiful fabrics. The color combinations are to die for.
I am drooling!!!!!
Lucky you! Thanks for sharing your wonderful stash. I saw a few in there that I would love to have - Max and Whiskers especially!!
Next time don't hold back lol! You really did have fun.
It seems like you had a wonderful time! I can't wait to see Sherbet Pips myself - it's gorgeous and very unlike a lot of other Moda fabrics.
I look forward to seeing what you create from your newly acquired stash!
Sounds like so much fun!! I think we can all agree on the fabric addiction...you're not the only one (just one of the lucky ones to feed it at market!) Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
Wow!!! You've got some amazing fabrics there! Lucky you ~ you'll hav lots of fun creating with those.
Looks like quite a haul!Glad you survived all the craziness looks like it was well worth it.
Okay... I would have picked all of those - great selections!! NOW, let me tell you about SLC... stay a couple more days and hit the shops... Quilter's haven will be about 10 Minutes in Bountiful, Pine Needles in West Jordan about 15 minutes, Elaine's in Cottonwood(mouth of the canyon for skiing - which could actually still be open then), and my most favorite (and who could be hosting a celebrity at any given moment because she knows a lot of quilt people) Material Girls Quilts in South Jordan about 20-25 minutes but WELL worth the drive - tell Nadine(shop owner) "Hi". There is also Quilt Etc. just down the road in SLC on State Street. Now, there are more down south and up north but these are the best !! I just moved back to the Carolinas and miss them a lot, but I'm glad to be "home". Enjoy!!
That is quite a haul!! I came away with 12 fat quarters--although I didn't do sample spree. I'm gonna have to be brave and try it in SLC. Although, I'm quite sure I won't do as well as you did!!
This is my favorite post that you have EVAH done! That Sherbet Pips fabric...wonderful...great choice, I am so jealous, can't wait til it comes out!
Wow! Awesome fabric.
Wow!! Love it all.. Thanks for sharing!
