Ready for a pic of the finished pillow?
I knew Karrie loves Turtles, so I was going for a whole beach theme. I thought that the linen and hexagons looked like turtle shells on the beach.

Thought this photo of the back of the pillow top looked cool after quilting it ...

And a closeup of the turtle and seahorse applique ...

I used a charm pack of Neptune by Tula Pink for Moda and some linen for the background.
I also received MY pillow from Kelly! It is so beautiful. She used pieces of Denyse Schmidt's Hope Valley. I also see some Momo Wonderland, Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow, Camille Roskelley Bliss, Heather Bailey Nicey Jane.

I love the button closure and French General fabric she used on the back. The quilting is gorgeous too.

The funniest coincidence though is that the pattern (Java Stars) she used for my pillow is from Karrie!!
The person I sent a pillow to designed the quilt my partner based the pillow she sent me off of. IS THAT COOL OR WHAT?!?!?
Thank you so much Kelly! Love, Love, Love it!

I saw Karrie's post about receiving her pillow yesterday. You can tell she absolutely loves it! Who wouldn't though?! It's fabulous...great job!
Both pillows are gorgeous. I just love the quilting you did on your neptune pillow. That really makes it pop.
Wow! I love the pillow you made. Some seriously lovely hexie work and quilting.
KICK BUTT or what...that is OUTSTANDING.....LOVE LOVE it.... where do you get the linen you used?
The pillow you made was SO beautiful! And what a coincidence about the makes and receivers- it is a small world!!
You are sooooo talented!! I just love seeing what you will come up with next. VERY cute and original. I love the coincidences too. Pretty neat.
I'm a lucky ducky!!! Woo Hoo!!
Seriously, why were you so nervous? You're way more famous than me! ;)
I think that is so awesome...It's almost like 6 degrees of Karrie! Ha!
I told Kelly I need to make myself a pillow like she made....it really is great, if I do say so myself. :)
Thanks again Ryan! You totally made my day yesterday. :)
You really hit the mark for Karrie - she is over the moon! It's a wonderful, creative pillow and is SO Karrie! And so funny that your swap pillow is made by Karrie's pattern - it's a great design that I made up as a quilt the weekend it came out!
Great work on the pillow!!! I think the back of the quilted-ie-goodness is crzy awesome! Can you do up a tutorial?? Or better yet make me one. . . haha
There you go, that's quilter's karma for ya! They are both stunning pillows. I love your design, and I'm sure Karrie was happy to wait for such an awesome swap piece!
I really like both pillows. Nice work.
They are both lovely!
Love the pillow and the linen you chose to represent the sand. Just a beautiful job!
Love this pillow top. The use of the linen and the charm squares to make the hexies is cool. The design is definitely artsy, as is the fabulous quilting. Beautiful!
Love the pillow - the tiny pebble quilting on the "sand" is just perfect!

Oh Ryan I just adore what you sent and received. The quilting on the one you sent is just magnificent as is the piecing. One day I hope to be half as good as you and then I'll be satisfied. I also really loved the one you received.
