I was fortunate enough a few months ago to get some advance scraps of Sandi Henderson's new line Secret Garden from a quilting buddy of mine.
The colors in this new collection are amazing. I pieced a new mouse pad top for myself and had a tiny bit left over to use for the back. Just waiting on the yardage I ordered of the range to finish it up.
Spending the rest of the day today in my studio going through bins of vintage fabrics I've been

Hi Ryan,
Love your work! Just a question, though, I noticed your post said something about a new mouse pad. How do you make it smooth to be a mousepad?
I have the same question ..how do you make it smooth?? I would love to make one!
Very nice and bright fabric. I guess you are going to have to laminate your mouse pad.
I've never thought about making a fabric mousepad. I just use a piece of scrap paper, nowhere near as pretty as yours.
That fabrics stunning,love.
How about a tutorial to make a fabric mouse pad? Thanks
Such gorgeous fabric.I love your mouse pad, such a great idea. Your wife sounds like my husband ; )
Nice fabrics.....question about a fabric mousepad with so many seams.....does the mouse move smoothly over it? Guess a few of us have the same question, huh? :)
Love the colorful mouse pad and those Sandi Henderson fabrics!
Good luck with the vintage fabric purge. I find it terribly hard to part with even the "ugly" fabrics in my stash, even though I'm not a hoarder in other aspects of my life.

Purging old fabric to make room for new is good! But also hard, I pass mine on to friends who make charity quilts.
I love the Secret Garden..such vibrant colours.
Thanks everyone! I see quite a few questions about "making it smooth," so I'll let you know what I do.
I found that if you treat the pad like a mini quilt and have an optical mouse (one without a trac ball in the bottom) it works well. The "eye" on the bottom of the mouse reads the change in location and as long as you use patterned fabrics it doesn't have any trouble telling the computer where to put the pointer on the screen.
I sandwich batting, backing, quilt it and bind it just as I would a mini quilt or mug rug.
