Happy Trendy Tuesday everyone!Welcome to another edition of Trendy Tuesday where I'll be highlighting some of my favorite trends in the current fabric market. From colors to shapes and all other possibilities, we'll be looking at similarities among fabric collections hitting store shelves.
Monochromatic refers to all the colors (tints, tones and shades) of a single hue. We've seen many collections release this year that include at least one or two monochromatic prints. They're a great way to add a pop of color to any project and are beneficial to designers to help fill out a line; a way for them to add additional supporting prints without over powering the others.
Constructing a quilt in a monochromatic color scheme allows you to limit the quilt's palette all while creating high visual interest; making an all black and white quilt, for example.
However, you can also create a more dull or soothing quilt by choosing shades that have a lower contrast; such as brown and tan.
Monochromatic prints are some of my favorite fabrics to "stash" as they are easier to match and pair with busy or more colorful prints. They play well with others, so to speak.
Here are some of my favorite examples of new and upcoming fabric from today's featured trend:

I absolutely love fabric like this. I tend to use a lot of tonals in my quilts.

I agree! I love the jewel mono prints!
Some of my favourite new prints are monochrome. I love the Tonal Daisies from the new Delighted range and the Lichen prints from Kate Spain's new range.
I love these fabrics...you're right, they are easy to put with others!
I really like the mixmasters monchromatic prints right now

I've done a few quilts with monochromatic collections and I love the look.
I am currently collecting red, blacks and whites to make a Sidelights quilt. Love those fabrics.
I love the old echino scooters in black and the oval elements. Of course, heirloom is on the list too :)
Love, love these kinds of fabrics. They are so perfect to go with the other awesomeness that it is out there for us today!
Must say I'm partial to that gray-speckle colored floral. ;) Also love Joel's berry colored print.
Liesl Gibson's Modern Workshop has some great monochromatic prints which I adore. Ditto Kate Spain's Terrain line.
Patricia Bravo has a number of different monochromatic prints in various lines, like the various elements ones that are great for this.
